PhD Position (m/f/d) - Innate Immunity in the Tumor Microenvironment
Veröffentlicht: 15.09.2025

Full- or part-time | temporary (24 month) | Institute of Clinical Chemistry and Pathobiochemistry

The lab of Prof. Jürgen Ruland at the TUM Research Insitute for Translational Cancer Research (TranslaTUM) studies mechanisms of innate and adaptive immune signaling pathways and their alterations in malignant and inflammatory disorders. Our international research group is broadly embedded in the Munich biomedical research community, supported by several Collaborative Research Centres funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG), an ERC Advanced Grant, and the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Prize from the DFG. We established a series of novel model systems to dissect the function of innate immune signaling pathways in the tumor microenvironment and are looking for a PhD student to join our laboratory.

Your responsibilities:

  • Investigate innate immune signaling within the tumor microenvironment—with emphasis on metabolic regulation—using complementary in vitro and in vivo models.
  • Plan, execute, and analyze experiments; ensure rigorous documentation and contribute to presentations and publications.
  • Collaborate within an interdisciplinary team; coordinate with students, collaborators, and core facilities to advance project goals.

Your profile:

  • You hold a MSc or equivalent degree with a solid background in immunology and molecular/cell biology.
  • You are a highly motivated scientist and committed to scientific excellence.
  • Experience with molecular biology, immunological and in vitro / in vivo techniques is a plus.

We offer you:

  • Excellent working conditions in an international and stimulating work environment.
  • Access to state-of-the-art facilities (e.g. cell analysis, imaging, sequencing, proteomics).
  • Membership in the TUM Medical Graduate Center with access to their qualification program.
  • EGYM well pass, corporate benefits and discounts (e.g. Käfer), cafeteria, sports and cultural offers
  • Free use of the library through a branch of the Munich City Library located in the building
  • Working in the heart of Munich at Max-Weber-Platz with very good accessibility by public transport such as the subway, S-Bahn or tram
  • Company pension plan through the Federal and State Pension Institute (VBL)
  • Self-realization through a varied and technically demanding job with interdisciplinary cooperation between various departments of the TUM Klinikum Rechts der Isar

We look forward to your application!
