Full- or part-time | temporary | Institute of Molecular Vascular Medicine

The newly founded ‘Institute of Molecular Vascular Medicine’ at the Technical University in Munich, Germany (Director: Prof. Lars Maegdefessel) is looking for a Postdoc with interest in molecular cell biology and physiology. The project will investigate the role and function of long non-coding RNAs and somatic mutations in vascular diseases (using bulk, single, cell and spatial analysis).

The lab is part of the Munich Heart Alliance (www.munich-heart-alliance.de) within the German Center for Cardiovascular Research (DZHK; www.dzhk.de), two DFG-sponsored collaborative research centers (www.sfb1123.med.uni-muenchen.de; https://cardiovascular-ncrna.de), and the BMBF-funded Excellence Cluster on ‘Nucleic acid-based therapies in Munich: CNATM’. The Institute is located on the Biederstein Campus along the scenic English Garden in Munich’s Schwabing district.

Your Tasks:

• To determine novel therapeutic targets in atherosclerosis and vascular diseases
• Functional assessment of somatic mutations in cell culture systems
• Therapeutic targeting of candidates using in vitro and in vivo models of vascular disease
• Involvement in analyses of single cell, bulk RNA and spatial transcriptomic datasets

Your profile:

• You are a highly motivated, curious, and communicative scientist with a Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences, Biochemistry, Bioinformatics, or related fields
• You have experience in cell biology and preclinical models to establish mechanisms controlling cell function
• You have experience and interest in the analyses of single cell and bulk RNA sequencing data
• You show a strong commitment, motivation, and discipline to work independently and efficiently
• You are a strong team player with the ability to work together with colleagues from various disciplines
• You show an excellent ability to communicate, present, and write in English
